Aquacise Summer, 2013

  • DAYS: Tues. & Thurs.
  • TIME: 8:30 – 9:30 AM Tues/Thurs.
  •  SESSION DATES: June 18 to August 15 (9 weeks)
  • No class July 4

 FEES: Tues./Thurs. Aquacise (1 hr.)

  • $85 – 17 classes
  • $7 – drop-in

CLASS MINIMUM: This class requires a minimum of 7 people

No one under the age of 18

Please Note: No children are allowed in the club during class. No childcare will be provided.

** We use flotation belts and noodles for the water aerobics (please bring your own) and water shoes or old sneakers for the water jogging.

2013 Swim Lessons

Hi Parents,

Here are all the items you need to register for swim lessons this year. 

SESSION DATES

(Classes meet Monday through Friday)

  • Session 1: June 17 – June 28
  • Session 2: July 1 – July 12 (no class July 4)
  • Session 3: July 15 – July 26
  • Session 4: July 29 – August 9

Available Lesson Times:

  • 10:30 – 11:00AM
  • 11:05 – 11:35AM
  • 11:40 – 12:10pm

Payment is due at time of registration. No refunds once session has started.

All classes are 30 minutes.

Please note: All children will be assessed on the first day of lessons and may be moved to a different level, if appropriate.

Swim Lesson Level Guideline Information

TOTS

Prerequisite: Child must be comfortable in the water and mature enough to follow directions.

Skills Introduced:

  • Blowing bubbles
  • Submerging the face with/without assistance
  • Retrieving rings from the bottom of the pool with assistance
  • Pushing off the stairs and kicking to the 3rd black line
  • Jumping in from the red line with/without assistance
  • 5 assisted “bobs”
  • Floating assisted and unassisted on front and back
  • Streamline with freestyle and backstroke kicking
  • Pushing off from stairs and swimming freestyle to 3rd black line 

The child will be observed on the first and last days of the lessons to measure improvement and to assess readiness for the next level. Successful completion of above skills will move the child to the Beginner class.

Fee: $45/Member $60/Non-Member

Beginner

Prerequisite: Child must be able to complete all skill requirements in the TOTS level.

Skills Introduced:

  • Freestyle for 25 yards
  • Backstroke for 25 yards
  • Jumping in unassisted and swimming back to the wall.
  • Retrieve rings from the bottom of the pool unassisted
  • Side Breathing
  • Streamline butterfly kicking to 3rd black line
  • Streamline breaststroke kicking to 3rd black line

The child will be observed on the first and last days of the lessons to measure improvement and to assess readiness for the next level. Successful completion of above skills will move the child to the Intermediate class.

Fee: $45/Member $60/Non-Member

Intermediate

Prerequisite: Child must be able to complete all skill requirements in the Tots and Beginner levels.

Skills Introduced:

  • Freestyle for 75 yards (3 laps)
  • Backstroke for 50 yards (2 laps)
  • Breaststroke 25 yards (1 lap)
  • Butterfly 25 yards (1 lap)
  • Entry dive
  • Breaststroke pull-down

The child will be observed on the first and last days of the lessons to measure improvement and to assess readiness for the next level. Successful completion of above skills will move the child to the Competitive Stroke class.

Fee: $45/Member $60/Non-Member

Competitive Stroke

Prerequisite: Only offered to children ages 9 and up. Competitive swimming background recommended.

Skills Introduced: (changes weekly)

  • Starts/Finishes
  • Turns
  • Freestyle
  • Butterfly
  • Backstroke
  • Breaststroke

The child will be observed on the first and last days of the lessons to measure improvement.

Fee: $10/Day Member $15/Day Non-Member

July 4th Bike Parade and BBQ

Bike Parade participants are to meet at the pool at 9:00am.

Parade starts @ 9:30am.

We will have ice cream prizes for most original and most patriotic decorated bicycles. Also ask that anyone interested in assisting with the bike parade – including some of our awesome teenage DP swimmers that can help as a “monitors” – are appreciated and can sign-up via e-mail or at the pool.

For the 4th of July BBQ, event starts at noon – we will have some games and food will be served around 4:00pm. Sign-up sheets for sides and desserts will be at the pool starting this weekend! Again, folks able/willing to BBQ, please e-mail Julie White at gjdwhite@comcast.net
